Do you feel lost? Don’t know what to do with your life? At one point, some people feel that the course of their life is totally meaningless. In fact, no path seems to be the right one and eventually desperation emerges after all of these trying to find a change that would make that feeling go away. There is no future, no goals, no goals. They are completely lost.
We have all, at some point, been those people. We have all felt like we were at an impasse. This is a situation in which we face, at the same time, a great inner void. However, even though we stubbornly see culprits everywhere, the point is that we have reached this point and have reached it on our own.
An opportunity to find yourself
When you don’t know what to do with your life, when you’ve reached that point where you can’t see a way out, no matter how anguish, anxious, or wanting to get out of it. None of this will work at this time. But there is one thing you need to do: find yourself back.
At what point have you focused on others and forgotten yourself? When did you stop wondering what it was you really wanted to do? Since when did what you do with your life become the last priority? The way we live prompts us to activate autopilot to act as if we were robots, avoiding being aware of the present moment.
Now that you find yourself in this dead end, that you don’t know what to do with your life, stop yourself. This is the perfect time to be able to be aware of yourself and what is around you. To reconnect with the world and your internal being.
Your wishes, desires and what really motivates you will be there to signal all those goals that you have but have not wanted to see for a long time because you have strayed too far from the path. You think there is no way out when the solution is within you. Motivation is born in all of us, but for that you have to know what you want.
It is true that, at first, when you don’t know what to do, the normal reaction is to overthink it, stamp your feet and run around like an unbridled horse. However, you must realize that it is necessary to calm yourself down in order to be able to be aware of all that we have just mentioned.
If you don’t know what to do with your life, start by accepting reality
This is a very important step to be able to take advantage of what we have said previously. However, you are probably going to find that accepting reality is nothing more than what got you into this dead end.
We all live with different expectations. For example, I finish my studies, I find a job, then I meet the love of my life with whom I will have children and I will be happy. Sounds perfect, doesn’t it? This is the ideal that many people aspire to. But… what if all doesn’t go as planned?
The expectations you may have do not guarantee that things will turn out the way you want them to. You are probably going to run into problems, difficulties that will frustrate you, get on your nerves and prevent you from accepting the fact that very often what happens does not live up to your expectations.
When we come to a point of great indecision, perhaps it means that we need to start seeing a professional. Thanks to him, we will discover if we have to go back to find the crossroads where we have lost our way or if, on the contrary, the solution is to look for more alternatives to move forward where we have remained blocked. . Very often, deciding on a particular option will depend on the price we are willing to pay in trying to achieve a particular goal.
Certain times are more propitious than others for this existential crisis. Perhaps the first happens when we become adults: we have to choose what we want to do and how we want our life to unfold. The second arises in middle age, at 40, with a crisis we have all heard of, in which we leave one step behind and start another.
During times of change, when we move from one stage to another, we can feel lost. It is something natural, which should not frighten us. Even so, if this happens, we must prevent the feeling of worry from leading us to abandonment. Times of change are also times for intelligence and patience, for deciding with your brain and choosing a wisely thought-out option. No matter what we decide, there will always be people telling us that we are wrong.
Whether backing up or looking for other alternatives, every situation has a way out. Sometimes this one will be logical and predictable, and other times it will be completely surprising, haphazard and enigmatic. We will have to work for the first but, for the second, as we said earlier, we must not let ourselves be overcome by worry, the one that hides all the opportunities from us.
