Self-knowledge: 3 tools to get to know yourself better

Each of us finds himself living our own personal dream every day. We may or may not be aware of each step, but our dreams are there, taking place as if it were a script.

When we talk about achieving our goals, our objectives and the materialization of our personal desires, self-knowledge is the essential and indispensable tool to achieve this.

Many of us face constant changes in our personal and professional lives.

In our quest for well-being and internal development, we can reflect on many things, especially those that allow us to know ourselves better and which guide us towards what satisfies us and what we know how to do best.

The first step to succeeding in what we set for ourselves is to know our goals and the tools to achieve them.

It is true that when we talk about ourselves we can sometimes find it difficult. We feel that we know each other and that we know everything about ourselves, but  we rarely take the time to think, reflect and write.

We do not stop at “writing in black and white” the characteristics that will make it easier or more difficult for us to achieve our goals.

Who am I ? This exercise allows you to see who you are now, and who you want to be in the future.

The most important thing is to decide how you are going to learn to be the person you want to be. What would be your strategy to get there?

To complete this task, you must write on one sheet who you are, on another who you want to become, and on the last one how you are going to do it.

It would also be interesting to supplement this exercise with feedback from people you trust to find out how your loved ones perceive you.

The lifeline. This tool allows you to create a horizontal line that represents your life.

On this line you will mark a dot in the middle, representing the “now”. Then you will start to include the different situations and experiences that you have had in the past. Thus, you will be able to be aware of what you consider to be important in your life.

The second part will be about filling a part of your future, pointing out your nearest and furthest goals in time.

Once this life line is completed, we invite you to reflect on what you have been through and how you plan to achieve the goals set for your future.

–  Have a journal of emotions. Listening to our emotions can give us a lot of detail about ourselves, other people, or different situations.

For this reason, the journal of emotions is considered a technique to facilitate self-knowledge.

Be aware of your own emotional state. Knowing which emotions are repeated in your daily life, or their origins, can provide you with greater knowledge about yourself, in all parts of your life.
